Edward Hopper (1981)
Gently directs your attention to Hopper’s paintings, then to his life, then the two together, then the paintings alone again. A nice corrective to the kinds of looking that dominate YouTube “film review” channels, this encourages looking at pieces and at wholes, at a pace that raises, but does not require, Hopper’s emphasis on light with the question of whether we can see them also of illustrations of life.
